Drs. Ma and Zhang paper ranks in the top 25 of SEG Online Experience 2020 Annual Meeting

The paper “A workflow of separating and imaging diffraction wave by using deep learning network: An application of GPR data” authored by Dr. Ming Ma and Dr. Rui Zhang, has been ranked top 25 of 764 papers presented at the SEG Annual Meeting 2020.

The paper used a newly developed machine learning technique to separate the diffraction waves from the reflection waves, which allows us to image the subsurface discontinuity more clearly.

The method has been successfully applied on a GPR data from the Arctic to monitor the global warming by imaging the water column in the permafrost.

This work is in collaboration and co-authored by Dr. Jonathan Ajo-Franklin from Rice University.
